MEDIA ALERT

A Legacy of Learning- Collaborative Partnership to Help Local Schools

Visual: Mountains of donated teaching and school materials unloaded and sorted by adult and student leaders.

WHAT: The Learning Tree Store’s inventory of educational materials for teachers and students has been generously donated to Cradles to Crayons. The donation is made possible by the generous support of local donors including: Katherine Alden, Ferdinand Colleredo-Mansfield, Danversbank and Dr and Mrs. Akbarian.

The materials will be unloaded from trucks, sorted, and distributed to teachers in public schools in the communities of Lynn, Lawrence and other high need communities. The remainder of the inventory will be distributed through Cradles to Crayons’ social service network to disadvantaged children across Massachusetts.

WHO: Lynn and Lawrence community, civic leaders, student volunteers from the Pingree School and Cradles to Crayons staff.

2:30pm Celebration- Brief Remarks

WHY: After 22 years of supporting local teachers, The Learning Tree Store made the difficult decision to close their doors. The Legacy Committee of The Learning Tree was formed to ensure the remaining inventory of learning materials be distributed to local teachers and children in-need. The mission of the Legacy is to support educators and parents through teacher training, products, and leadership. Private donors stepped up to ensure this valuable inventory found a good home.
